current amplification

                                                                                                                                                      04.03.2012.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I’m a student from India and doing my final semester in Bachelor of Technology. I’m very grateful to your company for providing such a wide range of components.

As a part my final year project I’m using 2N3055 for current amplification but when I used it for that I couldn’t amplify current and the load is driving current from the source. I think that the biasing of the component is not done properly as it is just acting like a switch instead of a amplifier.

So, I request you to suggest me the required circuit or any other component for current amplification.

                                                                                                                                                          Thanking You.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Yours Truly,

Ch.Sravani.

  • Ch.Sravani,

The 2N3055 is a long-used power transistor that should be able to provide current amplification in a properly designed circuit. May I suggest that rather than looking for another approach, you first learn what is wrong with your use of this transistor. I believe that your own teachers are best positioned to inspect your circuits and techniques.

If you have a question regarding use of TI's components you are welcome to return to our forums.

    Regards, Bruce.

  • Thank you sir for your reply. What I actually want is how to bias it. Me along with my teachers tried it but we couldn't do it so, I thought some one from this company could help us.Please suggest me how to bias it along with the supply voltage specifications or any other component from your company which can do the same job.

                                                  Thank you once again.

    Ch.Sravani
