ADS5562 CLKP/CLKM inputs' absolute maximum ratings?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5562, ADS5560

I am concerned about possible damage to the CLKP/CLKM inputs if the device is powered off while driving the CLKP/CLKM inputs. The absolute maximum rating on page 3 of the specification sheet refers to analog input pins, but makes no reference to the CLKP/CLKM inputs. I am using the inputs differentially with capacitive coupling and a 100 ohm termination resistor.

What are the ADS5562 CLKP/CLKM inputs' absolute maximum ratings?

While I am asking this question, what about the digital inputs, such as serial interface inputs, absolute maximum ratings?

  • Bill,

The ADS5560 will be able to handle standard LVPECL input swings. You can follow the standard LVPECL termination between the clock chip output and the ADS5560 clock input. It is the same as your circuit based on your description above.

The absolute maximums on CLKp/m pins and SPI lines will be the same as analog input pins (-0.3V to minimum(3.6, AVDD+0.3V)). With this specification, we recommend you to disable the LVPECL clock driver when the device is powered off.

For the next datasheet update, we will add a note in the datasheet absolute maximum section to clarify the clock input and spi lines spec.
