LMP90100 Sensor connection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP90100

My query is about the implementation of a type K thermocouple and AFE LMP90100 of your signature. In your data sheets I have observed that use differential input referenced to Vref / 2 in one of the 2 terminals of the thermocouple. There is possibility of using the thermocouple referenced to GND using a single input single ended digitizing, (plus Cold Juntion sensor)? Fixed gain amplifiers and programmable can operate correctly? the background calibration? I have to have some other considerations for this type of connection? Thanks. John

  • Hi John,

You can use thermocouple referenced to ground with LMP90100, but will be limited to gains of 1 to 8 . FGA cannot be used. please see below spec.
    Background calibration will still work.
You can also consider using one terminal of the thermocouple connected to Vref/vdd via a 1M res and other terminal of the thermocouple to gnd via another 1M res. This will provide mid rail bias, in case you intend to use FGA.
