I have a customer who would like to know if they can run this part below spec at 1.0Gbps

    Alvin,

    The PLL is designed (and tested) to operate from 80Mhz to 125Mhz.  Operating outside of this range is not warranted.

    Depending on system, it may be possible to clock at 100Mhz and use 1/2 of the bandwidth.  I can provide more details if this is feasible for their system.  Essentially would set LSB to fixed K28.5, and use the MSB for data transmission.  Essentially would need to be able to drive the interface at 100Mhz 8bit.  Both ends of the link would likely need to be TLK2711s.
