ADS1281 Force VREF input to 0V for unused case

Hi,
 
We are using 5 ADS1281 in one of our application, all being individually provided with an individual external reference voltage.
By external, I mean that the reference voltage device is located outside the board, acually, at sensor level.
This provides excellent results.
 
We would like right now be able not to use one of the 5 channels (one of the external sensor will not be populated).
Can the ADS1281 have its VREFP and VREFN pins tied to 0V, as well as AINP and AINP ?
 
We are aware this will make any measurement possible, but for some reasons, we would like to avoid modifying the board layout, and simply ensure that the used ADC will be kept in a state were it will not be dammaged.
