ADS1296 and ADS1298 have same pinout?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1296, ADS1298, ADS1294

I did not see a separate pinout for the 1296.  It sounds like I just need to tie the unused op-amp inputs (CH7,8) to AVDD, and leave the RESP lines floating.  Anything else I should be concerned about with the 1296?  The plan is to use one 1298 and one 1296 to create a diagnostic quality ECG system.

Please advise.

  • Hi Amy -

Yes, the ADS1296 and ADS1298 share the same package, the only difference is WRT channels 7 and 8.  They are no-connects in the ADS1296 so you can actually leave them float (open) if you like.

  • The datasheet mentions connecting unused inputs to AVDD, but not sure if that is only for pins that are unused but available, or pins that are unused regardless of whether they are available.

For example, if I did not use CH7,8 on a 1298, I would tie them to AVDD.  Does that still hold true for the 1296?  Just not sure if the bond wires are connected internally to anything @CH7,8 on the 1296 (i.e. to protection circuit or something like that) and whether it would make any difference if they were connected to AVDD or not . . .

  • Hi Amy,

Yes, for the ADS1294 and ADS1296, I would connect the those pins to AVDD through weak pull up resistors.
