RE: Problems with manual channel operation (ADS8331)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8331

Hi Tony,

I also have a problem when using ADS8331.

I use manual channel and auto-trigger mode.  Analog Input to IN1(1.5V) and only one channel enable, other channels not connect anything.

My step is:

1.  First use Reset pin to reset chip.

2.  Write CFR(0xE4BD) to chip, then read CFR value = 0x34BD. So i confirmed that SPI work correctly.

3.  Write CMR(0x1000) to chip, use 16 clocks to select IN1 to MUXOUT.

4.  Read AD data(0xD000) .

My issue is:

1) Whatever select IN1/IN2/IN3 , IN0 voltage always equal to 0.9V .   Since IN1 is 1.5V, if select IN1, MUXOUT should be the same voltage, but now it is 0.9V. It's very strange.

2) It seems that switch channel failed.  But CMR could not read ,so the only way to judge configure channel successfully or not is measure INx and MUXOUT signal.

Is this chip has special setting of configure channel?

Hope your response.

Best Regards,

Vincent
