DAC904E Power Down Input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC2904, DAC904

Hi, the question is about the DAC904E. I need to know if the POWERDOWN input of this device does have an influence over the digital interface. Can I set a value to the internal register when the device is in power down mode? The idea is to set the startup value before enabling the analog output.

Best regards,

  • Hi Marcos,

I'm not entirely sure and the designers for this part are no longer around. I can tell you that for a similar part (DAC2904), I was able to load the register while powered down. First I powered down the device, then applied a constant digital signal, then applied the clock to clock it in, then removed to the clock to make sure I wasn't clocking in new data, and then powered the device on and it would jump straight to my programmed value. The DAC904 is older than the DAC2904, so I would expect that the power down was not better for the DAC904 than the DAC2904. I would expect that you would be able to do this.
