Does BeagleBoard Handle 144ksps and FIR from ADS1278?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278, OMAP3530

I used ARM on embedded Linux before, but, i'm newbies on DSP.
I wanna improve SNR from ADS1278@144ksps by using digital filter on DSP.

Beagleboard use OMAP3530 that have DSP and ARM.

Could OMAP fast enough to get Frame Sync144ksps from ADS1278 and process FIR from DSP before send to ARM?

I just wanna make sure that i choose right hardware.

If anyone have any suggestion for me, I'll appreciate it.

Thank You.
Pakorn.

  • If you are using a Android release from http://processors.wiki.ti.com you can try posting your question in Android forum. Recent Android release is TI-Android-JB-4.1.2-DevKit-4.0.1 DeveloperGuide.

  • I'm not using Android.

    My field is Embedded Linux.
I want to used some CPU with ADS1278-ADC24bit8ch at 144ksps and use some FIR from these data.

I wish DSP on OMAP3530 on Beagleboard can help.
In fact, I can use any board from any vendor.
Beagleboard have ARM and DSP from OMAP3530.
I just think i can use it, but, i'm not sure because i'm never use DSP before.
    Just wanna make sure.

  • Then a concrete answer is going to depend on what OS are you using and what type of bridge communication between ARM and DSP you are using.

For what I know your task is possible with OMAP35x since most of this bridge communications between processors allows you to create a library with your code to be loaded in DSP side and run it, and there are code examples to use. Please post your question in OMAP35x Processors Forum they must be able to answer your questions.

You can check next post it is about starting with the DSP and contains some useful information.
