DAC5672 input data format

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC5672

Hi All,

I am trying to generate a simple sine wave from DAC5672 populated on DE2-115 board .

The NCO i am using  generates simple signed binary 14-bit numers which are then converted to Offset-Binary format .

Please see attached the scope output and simulation out put .  Why i am not getting a clean sine wave output ???

Also what is the data format suitable for DAC5672 to generate a sine wave ?

Thanks

  • Hi,

The input data format of DAC5672 is offset binary so DA13 and DB13 are the most significant bits (MSB). The sine wave should be clean out of DAC5672.

"The DAC5672 features two operating modes selected by the MODE pin. For dual-bus input mode, the device essentially consists of two separate DACs. Each DAC has its own separate data input bus, clock input, and data write signal (data latch-in). in single-bus interleaved mode, the data must be presented interleaved at the A-channel input bus. The B-channle input bus is not used in this mode. The clock and write input are now shared by both DACs."

    Thanks,
