Can you please suggest an ADC EVM for my use

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS41B29, ADS61B29, ADS42LB69, ADS5560, ADS5562, ADS5562EVM

I am looking for an ADC (100MHz or less) and capture board that has separate input buffer amplifier, voltage reference and clock.  I want to use this is a test bed for a thesis on noise distribution in high speed ADC systems.  I think 12 bits or more would provide good sensitivity for this Can you recommend an ADC and capture board for this purpose?

  • Hi Steve,

We have some 12b ADCs that have a buffered input.  Would this meet your needs or do you need an external amplifier?  Please check out the ADS41B29 and ADS61B29 at 12b 250Msps.

We also have a 16b 250 Msps with buffered inputs - It is a dual though.  This is the ADS42LB69.

  • Thanks, but as I said, I prefer to keep it below 100MHz.  I ran across these today.

ADS5560 or ADS5562 ADC and TSW1200 Capture Board

Mustly I need good access to the input amplfiers, power supplies, voltage reference and clock.  The goal is to assess the effect of stability on the ADC noise performance

    Thanks for the assistance

  • Steve,

The ADS5560 and ADS5562EVM are compatible with TSW1400, TSW1405, and TSW1200. We recommend you using the TSW1400 and TSW1405 for more software and hardware capabilities than the TSW1200. The TSW1400 provides 512M of capture depth while the TSW1405 provides 64k of capture depth.

The ADS556x EVM allows you to bypass the on-board power supplies and inject external power sources through test points. The ADC has external reference mode so you can provide external reference on the VCM test point TP4.

Regarding the analog input, you can use zero ohms to bypass the input transformer circuit to access the ADC input by itself. The J6 and J8 SMA connector allows to you connect external analog front-ends to the ADC. Refer to the schematic in the user's guide for detail. You will need to make sure the external connection meets the DC and AC input voltage range per the datasheet spec.
