ADS8363 reference

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8363, AFE0064

Hi,

I'm trying to use the ADS8363 to convert the output of two AFE0064. The ADS is set to work in fully-differential, simoultaneous, half-clock mode. I set both references REFIO1 and REFIO2 to 1.4V. Now, I wanted to change the reference thinking that REFIO1 wuold effect CH0A/B and REFIO2 for CH1A/B, instead I noticed that only REFIO1 has effect on the output and it does for all the four channels, is that correct?

I am using two external references for REFIO1 and 2, and I did not change anything on the register, as everything else is as default, any hint for that?

thanks a lot

Iolanda

  • Hi Iolanda,

If you take a look at the simplified block diagram of the ADS8363 reference selection circuit (Figure 29, page 18), you'll notice that either REFIO can be used with both ADC A and B.  The REFCM register is described on page 27 of the ADS8363 data sheet.  The default value used in that register is 0x0000, which selects the REFIO1 input for all ADC channels, so I believe the results you are seeing are to be expected.
