ADS1015 with multiple alerts

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1015, ADS7924

I have set up the ADS1015 to read 4 single-ended inputs, including programming each as a comparator.  However, I cannot understand how, or even if it is possible, to permit EACH comparator to trigger the one ALERT pin.  If I program AIN0 as a comparator, with the resulting ALERT line behaving properly, I cannot likewise program AIN1 as a comparator controlling the ALERT line without disabling AIN0 from triggering the ALERT.  Said another way, with 4 channels but only 1 ALERT, it would appear that the ADS1015 can be programmed to have the ALERT respond to but one input channel, is that correct?

  • Hi Warren,

Welcome to the forum!  As the ADS1015 can only convert one channel at a time, the comparator only works for the channel selected by the mux setting in the configuration.  You might like to take a look at the ADS7924 which has an internal scan feature that will measure all the channels and send an alert based on which channels are selected for sending an alert.

    Best regards,
