DAC7578 addressing issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC7578

I'm designing a system with up to 8 DAC7578 in QFN 24 pin package.

In the datasheet there is written: "The device address can be updated dynamically between serial commands.", but it seems that the 2 ADDRx lines are latched at powerup.

In my system the ADDRx lines come from a control board that is powered independently by the DAC7578 board and the system works correctly ONLY if I power the control board before the DAC board.

Any idea about that?

Thanks a lot.

  • Paolo,

Sorry for my delayed response. I usually don't miss a post but this one sneaked through the cracks...

Based on the datasheet information I would conclude that the addresses can be changed between serial commands. I have not played with this myself so I'll have to build something up to prove or disprove this on my end sometime next week.

  • Dear Kevin.

thank you very much to try to understand the problem.

While waiting your test, I'll try to find a workaround for my system.

Do you have any suggestions on some initialization/reset sequence we can send in broadcast? I've tried broadcast address commands and all the devices responds.

Hope to have good news soon.

    Paolo
