DAC5687: combine DACA and DACB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC5687

Hello all,

I'm using a DAC5687 chip in a signal processing comunication system. I have two independent systems which outputs a 16 bit real signal each one, in different frequencies. What I want to know is if is it possible to connect one system's output to the DACA and the other one to the DACB, and use the internal adder to combine both signals in one. I want to use de DAC5687 in full bypass mode, without using interpolators, filters,...

I'm also thinking about combine the outputs of the DAC just the way is explained in the figure 62 of the datasheet.

Does anyone have done this successfully before?

Thanks in advance

  • Andres,

The analog summing method in Figure 62 would work. You will need to adjust the input and output current scale to avoid saturation of the DAC output.

The DAC5687 does not have internal adder. If you are referring to the mixers such as coarse and fine mixers, they will not work well with real signals due to the complex mixing of AB channels.
