Problem with data rate for ADS1299ECG-FE software

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

Hi,

I've been using ADS1299ECG-FE to acquire EEG data for education purpose. I already takes 5 samples and its working just fine until this morning where the data rate of the software change into 160000sps while reading register (before this it is stay at 500sps) and make the reading register process become slow. The software become lagging and hang and after i click on acquire the error occured. Can I know what is the possible problem for this? And what should i do to make it working as before? Is there any ways to change the data rate before reading register process?

Sorry for my english. English is not my native language.

  • Hello Arlyana,

The Data Rate for the ADS1299EEG-FE can be changed from the ADC Register tab --> Channel Registers --> Global Channel Registers. Under Output Data Rate, you can select between f(MOD)/64 (16kSPS) and f(MOD)/4096 (250SPS). The slower the Data Rate, the longer it takes to acquire the desired number of Samples/CH that you specify at the top of the GUI.

Do you suspect that the software is running unusually slow? Is it changing the Data Rate without you doing it yourself?

If you notice any error messages appear, please take a screen capture and share them with us so that we may test what is causing it.

...and your English is fine :)

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your concern. The software did running unusually slow and the data rate changed without me doing anything.

And also when I click on register map tab. It appear that the registers are all 0..

After I click on acquire button, the error occurred as in the image attached.

  • Hi Arlyana,

It certainly looks like you have lost sync with the ADS1299 device.  I cannot recall any software glitches that would throw this type of error, generally it's caused by a hardware problem. For example, if you were probing the EVM during operation and accidently shorted something, it could disrupt the supplies to the device and it would lose sync with your PC.

Had you changed anything on the EVM or MMBO boards?

Please try doing a hardware RESET on the MMBO motherboard, and ensure that the jumpers are in their original configuration settings. Let me know if you are able to restore functionality to the ADS1299.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Ryan,

i have the same problem. No connection or slow connection. Same error code.

I switched some jumpers before, but the Board was never connected to the supply while changing the Pins of the Jumpers.

How to hardware reset the MMBO board?

    Regards

    Melanie

  • Hi Arlyana,

could it be, that you used the internal on chip Oscillator. After i set the jumper back to the EVM external Oscillator it worked.

Is the internal Oscillator that bad?
