About TX-SDK-V1 powersupply?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM96570

Hi,

I have a question about powersupply.

There +/- 50V , +/-10V , +/-5 , +/- 3.3 , sub and with ground on the TX-SDK-V1 kit.

Could you tell me what is using for by different Voltage ?? And is it turn on the same time??,But there is very hardly to find so many channel powersupply.

Because the ground is only one. So only can do one thing at the same time. I don't know what is the right Amp for the voltage?

The TX-SDK-V1 powersupply's banana connecter link on powersupply's  +50 V / ground /  -50 V. And using for driving HV pulsar.

The +/- 3.3 V with ground is using for FPGA.

And then...?

Could you give me the answer which about powersupply??

Thanks so much~

  • Hi Fu-Sheng,

The +/-50V, +/-10V, 3.3V  & sub are used by the LM96551 (pulser). The +/-5V, & sub are used by the LM96530 (T/R switch). The 3.3V & 1.8V are used by the LM96570 (beamformer). Depending on the mode, input frequency & load, the supply current on the pulser can vary from a few mA to hundreds for mA. For B-mode application, the supply current are all under 10mA. For CW mode, the supply current can read reach 300mA.

  • Hi Charles,

Thanks for your answer,It's really very import for me~Thanks again.

Wrong power will burn the Board.May I ask more detail??

    • The +/-50V, +/-10V, 3.3V  & sub are used by the LM96551 (pulser).

How to connect +/-50V, +/-10V, 3.3V  & sub ?? Are all of them working at the same time? How to  define different Freqency??

How many channels of powersupply need to use??  And the powersupply current setting ?? mA or A ??

    • The +/-5V, & sub are used by the LM96530 (T/R switch).

The sub is used again. What is the seting on the powersupply?? If no using ,is it can be ture off.

    • The 3.3V & 1.8V are used by the LM96570 (beamformer).

I don't understand the powersupply setting.

    • For CW mode, the supply current can read reach 300mA.

SPEC:Continuous-wave (CW) applications are supported for low power consumption down to VPP = -VNN = 3.3V with Mode =HI. What is the meaning?

Could you send me  pictures which are the banana connecters(pulser /TR /Beamform) on the powersupply??  And what is the powersupply setting ? ex: +50 sub -50 with ??mA

Is turn of sequence /turn of sequence following pulser spec??

Because the link http://www.ti.com/tool/tx-sdk-v1 is no detail technical document about this tool kit.So I ask so many question.

    Thanks so much~

    Have a good time~

  • Hi Fu-Sheng,

The documentation is back in the web now.  Sorry for the inconvenience.  I attach a slide of the lab bench power supply setup for the TX_SDK_V1 that my coworker did. If you have further question afterward, please let me know

    Regards,

    Charles

  • Hi  Charles,

I am very very thanks for your help. The power supply information is got by your document.I will try to setup .Thank you so much again.

    Have a good time.

  • Hi Charles,

Thank you very much for that slide. Its very informative.

As I am quite new to this field, could I possibly ask two questions:

Why did you use a separate power supply for the +50 and -50V? Could you not use the +ve and -ve connections instead?

Also, why do all the other connections need to be earthed?

    Thank you!

  • Hi Spiros,

To get positive supply voltage from the power supply, the -ve connection is connected to ground and the +ve connection is connected to the desire positive voltage. To get negative voltage from the power supply, the +ve connection is connected to ground and the -ve connection is connected to the desired negative voltage.

All supply need to reference to something, which usually is ground.

    Regards,

    Charles
