I'm having the same problem as Gary that the WaveVision5.0.6.465 (P2R1 Beta) can't find ADC12D1800RB even though the Device Manager detected National Semiconductor WaveVision ADC10D1000.

PCB info:

ADC1xDxxxx( RF )RB, PCB REV B, SV600863-004, Batch : 201410AA, SN 05

Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

I think you are correct, this is a similar issue as experienced earlier by Gary. The board you have is a new version that isn't supported by the version of Wavevision5 currently on the web site.

Please download and install this new Beta version here: (Expired link removed see below for updated link)

This version should have the needed files to support the board you have. Let us know if this resolves the problem and if you have any other issues with the board/software.

I have the same problem using version 5.0.6.465. Driver was installed correctly but Wavevision5 says "WvBoardEnum call returned false". Eval board is ADC12D1800RFRB, SV600863-005, PCB Rev B

It looks like for some people the problem got solved by using some newer/beta version of the wavevision software. Unfortunately none of the links mentioned in this thread work anymore. Would it be possible to provide a working link so that I could try an updated software version?

Sorry for the delay, please try this updated Wavevision installer:

WV5Setup5.0.6.465_HS_12.exe

This should resolve the issue with the board, but please let us know if you are still having problems.

The ADC is "48W158702 ADC12D1800RFIUT". I should also mention that of the nine green status LEDs only the 'FPGA Operational' and 'ECM Enabled' come on. The 'ADC_POWER' LED remains off.

Hello Jim or anyone from TI,

At this point I would like to ask for directions on how to return the board to TI and get a refund. It's been more than 2 weeks since we received the board and it has been collecting dust since then, apparently due to software issues. I really wish there was a way to get it working but, at the very least, I would need some feedback from TI. Without this feedback I really have no alternative other than sending it back.

I apologize for the delay in responding recently. I understand your frustration.

I've been traveling on business for several days which has delayed my efforts to work with the latest version of the hardware. I do have a board in-hand now and will try to find some way to get it working with Wavevision in the next few days. If I can't find a workaround for you by Friday I think it is best that you proceed with a warranty return.

It appears the problems you are having are due to a programming error during board production. The board ID has been set to ADC12D1800RB4 instead of ADC12D1800RFRB4 as intended. The steps below should enable you to get this board working with the updated software I sent earlier. These steps should make this particular board work, but will not be compatible with other Wavevision5 evaluation boards.

1)      With the EVM off, the USB cable disconnected and Wavevision5 software closed do the following.

2)      In the C:\Program Files (x86)\National Semiconductor\WaveVision5\hardware\fpga_images folder remove all FPGA .bit files except: “adc10d1000_xc4vlx25_adc12d1600rfrb.bit”. The other files can be moved elsewhere or deleted.

3)      In the C:\Program Files (x86)\National Semiconductor\WaveVision5\hardware\scripts folder rename this file “adc10d1000_xc4vlx25_adc12d1800rb4.reg.xml” to “adc10d1000_xc4vlx25_adc12d1800rb4.reg.xml.bak”.

4)     In the same folder, create a copy of “adc10d1000_xc4vlx25_adc12d1800rfrb4.reg.xml” and rename it to “adc10d1000_xc4vlx25_adc12d1800rb4.reg.xml”

Now turn on power to the EVM, launch Wavevision 5 and connect the USB cable. Now the proper FPGA file and script files for this board should be loaded and data capture should work. Let me know how things go and if any other error messages or problems are seen.

Hi Jim,

I followed your instructions but, unfortunately, still no success. After starting an acquisition Wavevision produces the same error message as before: "Board failed to collect samples...". However, I think I can confirm that wavevision indeed things it has the RB4 version instead of the RFRB4 version, based on the firmware image it claims to be loading in the beginning.

Are there any jumper settings that could cause this behavior?

Also, I noticed that the LP38513 on the board gets extremely hot after a minute.
