for HPLL control pixels per line value is needed. I can't find register where it can be read.
(..is it clock per line register ?)

Alex,
Please check register 39h/3Ah. These registers return the number of reference clocks per line.
If you need higher accuracy than the internal 6.5MHz reference clock achieves then you can provide an external 27MHz clock as the reference.
Other registers which will help you determine the source resolution are 37h thru 3Ch & 0Eh.
These registers should be used to determine the time for each of the video parameters. these parameters should then be compared against the VESA DMT or CVT timing specifications to determine what the actual source video format is.
Note, it is impossible to actually measure the number of pixels per line directly since analog VGA does not supply a discrete clock signal and the timings need to be re-calculated based on the line period, frame period (lines can be counted exactly since h-sync pulses can be counted), and H/V sync polarities.
BR,
Steve
