DDC 264EVM solution to soft reset FPGA to power up condition

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DDC264EVM

Hi ,

Can anyone please help with this , I need a software option via USB to hard reset FPGA config registers to power up options which mimics the functionality of

Switch2: (RESET_FPGA, resets the FPGA. Pressing this switch resets the FPGA to power-up conditions.)

I need this after some testing I observe EVM goes to Error Read/Write FPGA Config registers and I need to do hard reset of FPGA Switch2 to get it back working.

I don't want to hardrest it everytime it goes into this error state. So can someone please provide me if their is any other option which can reset FPGA to power up conditions.

Thanks

Sid

  • Sid,

Please explain the settings you are using and what is causing the device to go into the error state. If we can fix that then you will not need a way to reset it. I am looking into a software option to reset the FPGA at the moment.

  • Adam,

I am using the device under default config for  FPGA Config Registers and DDC Config registers. I have attached screenshot of my configuration and my current input is 10nA to 50nA.

My goal is to continuously sample data with certain interval and store it in a csv file. So I have written a C# application which automates button clicking event on Fast Data button ,fetches data from DataSummary listbox    and stores it in a .csv file.

To keep it simple I even tried just clicking fast data continuously when ever the Fast Data button widget is available. But after apprx around 30mins(this is variable) the app shows Firmware Version 0 instead of 656 and it says Error  Writing/Reading FPGA Config Registers . Only way to come out of this state is to do hard press of switch 2.  I have attached a screenshot of error state

I need an option to just do a soft press to come out of this state which needs FPGA to boot to power up conditions as in my end product this DDC264EVM would not be accessible for hard resets .

I will appreciate any help in doing this. Please let me know if you need any other information. I am giving input to EVM through my custom AIB board which directly gives current input to specific channel of interest.

    Many Thanks

    Sid

  • It would be great if their is a button widget in this UI for soft reset of FPGA

  • Sid,

This is something we are aware of and are working on at the moment. At this time use switch S2 or power cycle the FPGA to fix the error. I will update you once I find out more information.

If you have access to a GPIB controlled power supply you can automate the power cycling of the fpga once your script receives null data from the EVM.

How long are you waiting between reads using the "Fast Data" button call?

Are you changing any settings on the FPGA in between reads? Or just calling the Fast Data button repeatedly for 30 minutes?

  • Adam,

I wait about 1sec between reads. I am not changing settings of FPGA between reads. I just repeatedly call Fast Data button.

I don't have GPIB controlled power supply at present. I will wait some more time before going with that option.

    Many thanks for your updates

    Thanks & Regards

  • I have to build couple of prototypes for this for different labs , so I will wait some more time to go with GPIB controlled power supply. But its always an option, I will definitely work upon that meanwhile.

  • Hi Adam,

    Any Updates on this ?.

    Thanks

    Sid

  • Sid,

We unfortunately do not have an update on this yet.
