AFE5809 VCAT response time by SPI configure including the SPI time and all other time?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE5809

Hi

I want to design TGC by configure VCAT register.

The SCLK max frequency is 20MHz,In my opinion,The all time is 16*50ns=800ns.So the min response time is about 1us.

Am I right? Please give me a detailed explation about VCAT response time.

Thanks!

  • Hi Winston,

    please find below the answer.

The AFE5809 can work with a max SCLK of 20MHz which means 50ns period. With that being said, as the serial data is loaded into the register every 24th SCLK rising edge when SEN is low, the overall time the AFE5809 takes to load it into the register is 24*50ns = 1.2us. Equivalently, the minimum period within which SEN is LOW is 1.2us.

    Hope it helps.

  • Thanks Fabio!

When I set the register, does TGC function work Immediately?

  • Hi Winston,

    please find below the answer.

The data for this are not readily available and are not in the datasheet.  If this is a critical spec,  we can dig deeper and make this measurement.  Please let us know if this parameter is necessary.

    Hope it helps.

  • Hi

I am working on AFE5809 for ultrasound application, when i applied reflected signals from transducer to the AFE5809 i am able to get LVDS signals, and these signals are given to the TSW1400 EVM.

    My Queries

    1. Can i use these out put signals from TSW1400 for Envelop Detection, log compression & scan conversion and display the image?

    2. I am thinking that lot of noise is including ,so how to eliminate noise before going for the Algorithms?

    3. Are  there any additional methods need to be done for better image display?
