Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158
1)Why TVP5158 is now NRND?
2) We have no solution for -40C to _85C now?

It is NRND since it has been moved to a legacy device, hence will only receive limited support from now on.
BR,
Steve
Well... limited :)
We will try to answer questions whenever we can but if the issue requires any sustained debug/analysis then it will likely not be supported.
These devices should not now be recommended for new designs.
The EP version is available still. Sorry for the confusion.
BR,
Steve
OK, sorry for the confusion.
I have just realized you are asking about the TVP5158 and not the TVP5150AM1.
We now have a legacy forum for all the TVP devices which are now NRND.
The TVP5158 is NRND and will only have limited support available.
BR,
Steve
Hey Steve,
We are using the DM6467T with the TVP5158.
Does all this mean that the TVP5158 is becoming outdated? If so, is there another chip (preferably one that has an actual DEVICE DRIVER) that we should use for the DM6467T in place of the TVP5158? Sorry for being clueless but I am only an intern at my company.
Thanks,
- Mark
Mark,
Sorry for the delayed response.
Most TVP and THS devices are being converted to NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) due to limited support options. This does not mean that the devices are obsolete, nor are they EOL (End Of Life). It simply means that design support will be somewhat limited.
BR,
Steve
Hey Steve,
Thanks for replying (most times I never even get that). Do you have anyone on staff who can help us with driver support for the DM6467T and TVP5158 (since the mcvip driver is old and doesn't support the newer kernel)? Specifically the VPIF interface.
Thanks,
Mark
Mark,
Unfortunately we do not have any plans to update the DM drivers and support will be limited.
BR,
Steve
Steve,
Is there any help on at least porting an external decoder onto the VPIF driver? Software help preferred.
Thanks,
- Mark
I will ask the software team to take a look.
Can you please post the request to the DaVinci forums though where you should get a quicker response?
BR,
Steve
Steve,
I can, although usually it takes weeks for a response I'm just replying here because you've started replying here haha. I will post and update this post with the link to my post.
Thanks for the help,
- Mark
LOL.
Well, I am not really sure my responses help you any more than the lack of responses in the DM forums :)
I will try to get some response for you.
BR,
Steve
Yea haha, it's just good to hear from someone. If you could by chance get Viet or Anshuman to help (I know there busy according to Renijith Thomas) that would be amazing. Here is the link:

Thank you very much for the help!
