AMC1210MB-EVM firmware error message

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1210MB-EVM, AMC1203EVM, AMC1210

Hi support team,

I am testing the AMC1210MB-EVM with the AMC1203EVM modulator.   After installing and configuring the software and setting the filter, I ran into the error message: "Firmware encountered an unexpected failure, please try again".  ACK Enable and Module Status button are both enabled.  Any advice?  Thank you.

Trung

  • Hi Trung,

I got a call from Matt as well regarding this query.  Please see if turning off Filter Module 1 resolves your issue with the AMC1210 firmware.

  • Hello,

i have the same Error Message. I Try to  get access to a not-ti hardware that gives me a delta-sigma signal. I try to connect the AMC1210MB EVM to an external Clock, because the board seems to give only a fixed 32MHz Clock. I tried 8, 12, 16 and 20 MHz Clock with some crystal oscillators. Any help?

    best regards

  • Hi Philipp,

Welcome to the e2e Forum!  Can you tell us how you have the filter module configured?  What hardware are you trying to connect to the AMC1210MB EVM?

  • Hi Tom,

thank you. I tried some different settings. The Hardware is in a Blackbox, so i dont really know what exactly is in there. I think i have to try a bit. But I am very new to delta-sigma conversion. The Datasheet says not very much, but I maybe can get informations from the manufacturer, if they are really needed to develop the interface. What i know from the Datasheet is following: They callibratet the Blackbox with filter: sinc^3; OSR:256 and Clock:20MHz.

  • Thank you for the additional detail Philipp!

Most often that error message comes from setting the OSR parameter to '256'.  If you look at the AMC1210 data sheet, the value to load in the register is 'desired - 1'.  The AMC1210MB software follows the same convention so if you want an OSR of 256, put the value 255 in the GUI.

  • Okay that helped. Thank you for the moment!
