Chromatic aberration/distortion visible in Images

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5150

Hello,

We have been observing Chromatic distoration in the following image. We are using PAL Camera and TVP5150 video decoder and you can see the edges of the numbers "03D153874W" in the captured image. There is a distoration in the edges of those numbers.

The image quality is also poor when compared to Hikivision DVR which infact is H.264 decoded frame.

The following image shows the Same PAL camera used with DVR H.264 decoder.

So the PAL Camera is proper. The TVP5150 decoder chip need to be fine tunned.

So please help us in fine tuning the TVP5150 chip to avoid the above distortion.

If any more details regarding this, I will provide it also. So please give a suggestions

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Sarjoon

  • This artifact is called "false color" and is an artifact that there is not much you can really do about.

The Hik DVR uses a different video decoder which has slightly better demodulation perfoemance.

Additionally, if you know your source is monochrome then you can enable color killer which will give better monochrome performance but will disable color demodulation. This mode is often called "night mode" when used with infra-red cameras/lighting.
