Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278-EP, ADS1278-HT, ADS1278
Hello-
We are using the ADS1278-EP in high-speed mode to collect signals in the 10s of uV range. In general, we get excellent performance out of this part. In our testing we have noticed that on some ADCs one or more channels exhibit substantial noise increases (3 or 4 times more than our typical result). This test is performed with the inputs shorted together. We were wondering if this might be related to the noise spec on AD1278 datasheet, which has a surprisingly high spread between typical and maximum (8.5uV RMS typical, 68uV RMS max). Do you know why the spread is so high? Is there a way we could reduce it or screen out the really high noise parts?
We also note that the ADS1278-HT (which is rated to 210 deg. C) has lower maximum noise (21uVrms) than the -EP version. Why the descrepency? The normal ADS1278 has a maximum noise of 16uVrms, and is rated to 105 deg. C. Thanks and Best Regards,
