DAC1220 Self calibration

Hi currently I am using DAC1220E for our product.

One issue with it that DAC reference is 2.5V but DAC output is not accurate according to given count. Please explain me what is the use of DAC self calibration? and how to do it?

Is the issue solved by DAC self calibration or any other process?

    Hi Pooja,

    You should always run the self calibration after power up to remove any error due to offset or gain of the DAC1220 device.  There is still some possibility that your accuracy of the output may not be as you expect if the reference is unstable or noisy.  Proper PCB layout is very critical for this device as are the correct value and capacitor types for the filter caps. Also, you will not get good results close to the power rails for the analog supply (about 20mV from either rail).

    Calibration and the self calibration procedure are detailed on page 13 of the datasheet.  Basically to initiate the self calibration you write to the command register a '0' to the MD1 bit and a '1' to the MD0 bit.
