Need help related to LM96511



Dear all,

i am using LM96511 analog front end with the data capturing device and wave vision 5 software.

i want to acquire 8- channel data simultaneously, i tried many times but could not get 8-channels i am getting only channel-0 data in software. Also in WV5 software there are only 4 channel option, so how can i get 8 channel data...?

i have already gone through all the manual guides given at TI website, but still not done with my task.

i would be really thankful if some one reply me soon.

  • Hi Aleem,

    Wave Vision 5 hardware / software is set up for maximum 2-channel capture and won't be able to do 8 channels.

    The image below shows how to select 2 simultaneous channel capture in B-mode:

    Once you have done that, then see in the image below how to select which two channels (from the list of 8 channels) are actually displayed. In this case, that would be Ch0 and Ch1 in Red and Green color:

    i want to ask two things about the LM96511

    1-In the user manual and guide it is mentioned that this EV board is 8-channel AFE, then why its not dealing with 8-channels simultaneously.

    2- Please suggest me then any HW/SW setup to get 8-channel simultaneously

    My responses below:

    1. # of Channels displayed on WV5: The LM96511 has 8 simultaneous channels. That is correct. The WV5 hardware / software can process / display any 2 of these 8 channels at any one time. The 8 (Ch0-Ch7) captured data are still there on the “DOUT” pins, as outlined in Table2-1 and it is the job of the ultrasound system board to capture and process this data.

     

    2. 8-Channel Capture: Texas Instruments evaluation platform is to demonstrate and analyze the performance of the ultrasound components that we manufacture. I’m not an expert on how the ADC output(s) are to be processed in the final system (probably using an FPGA that is capable of handing the data rate?).
