AFE44x0SPO2EVM Compatible Pulse Oximeter sensor

HI,

We are planning to purchase  AFE44x0SPO2EVM  evaluation kit, and wanted to know which pulse oximeter sensor (both reflection and transmission based) have been tested/compatible with the kit.

One good sensor that I found is "Nellcor DS100A SPO2 Adult Finger Sensor Oximax 9pin". Is this compatible?. As our studies are on PPG waveform morphology, we want something that has been already tested to work.

It will be really helpful if some compatible SpO2 sensor (reflection and transmission based) product names can be provided.

Thanks

  • Our AFE44x0SPO2EVM kit comes with a finger sensor that has been tested and works. It will give you SpO2 measurement as well. You can see more information about our kit on our product page.

  • Thanks Amy

I got the eval module today, and things are working great. I have a small query though

Are there some reflection based probe also available, apart from NJL5501R which I guess will have to be put up in the desired configuration? We are researching in the wave characteristic for reflection Vs transmission mode, and thus are looking for of-the-self components.

  • In reflective applications using a single LED, one of the LEDs is replaced with the Green LED and the other LED is removed. For example, the IR LED can be replaced with the Green LED and the red LED can be removed from the design. In the AFE register settings, the current for the red LED can be turned off.

Depending on the configuration used, maintain the H-Bridge supply or the external supply voltage for the LED.

    Recommended operating condition for LED_DRV_SUP

        in H-Bridge configuration is max (3V, (1.4V + Vled + Vcable)) to 5.25V
in Common Anode configuration is max (3V, (1.3V + Vled + Vcable)) to 5.25V

    (1) VLED refers to the voltage drop across the external LED connected between the TXP and TXM pins (in H-bridge mode) and from the
TXP and TXM pins to LED_DRV_SUP (in the common anode configuration).
    (2) VCABLE refers to voltage drop across any cable, connector, or any other component in series with the LED.
