ADS1204: CLKIN Pi

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1204

Hi,

I would like to use the internal clock of the ADS1204. So, according to the datasheet, CLKSEL has to be = 1.

On page 17 of the datasheet it says "If CLKSEL = 1, CLKIN must always be set either high or low." But in the schematics on pages 13 and 14 CLKIN is not connected, although CLKSEL is set to 1. So what is right?

Regards,

Marcel

  • Hi Marcel!

To use the internal oscillator of the ADS1204, you need to tie the CLKSEL pin high.  It is customary to terminate any unused digital inputs, which is where the text on page 17 comes from.  I'm not sure why the schematics on pages 13 and 14 do not show the CLKIN pin terminated, so 'Thank You!' for pointing that out.  I'll see what I can do to rectify that.
