DAC7311 - are inputs 3.3V tolerant when Avdd is 2.5V?

I could not find anything in the datasheet regarding this DAC having input protection diodes.

I have Avdd at 2.5V (from a voltage reference) and would like to drive SYNC, SCLK, DIN with 3.3V signals thru series resistors - will that work?

Thanks,

Valentin

  • Valentin,

Our datasheets typically do not directly express the structure of the digital input cells.

You can infer that there is a protection diode by reviewing the absolute maximum ratings table on page 2 of the datasheet. The potential on any digital input referred to the part's ground is from -0.3V to AVDD + 0.3V.

What you're proposing is considered electrical over-stress for the device. Parametric degradation, loss of functionality, or permanent damage could occur.
