ADS1115 EVM Incompatible Hardware

I purchased this EVM and installed all of the software, drivers, etc. and when I run the ACDpro application it gives this error. A pop-up window shows that the hardware does not match the firmware. This EVM uses the MMB3 board and I'm using ACDPro V.1.20b16.

How do I get this to work?

    Hi Gabe,

    Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to here you are having issues.  Make sure that the I2C jumpers are installed for JMP4 and JMP5, and all jumpers are installed  for JMP1.  See Figure 1 in the ADS1115EVM user's guide for default startup jumper configurations.

    The ADS1015 and the ADS1115 share the same PCB, so we have an EEPROM that is supposed to be programmed to identify the correct parts on the board.  It is possible that either the EEPROM was not correctly programmed, or the board was mismarked.  If you have a magnifying glass you can look at the device markings.  If you send me the markings I can tell you which parts are on the board for sure.

    In case the EVM was not properly programmed, it is possible to turn off the EEPROM verification.  Unzip the attached file and copy the file to:

    Program Files (x86)\ADCPro\plugins\evm\ADS1115

    1832.adcpro_evm.zip

    You must have administrator rights to copy.

    Bob,

    Thanks for the quick response. I verified all of the jumpers and they seem to be in order. I'm attaching a picture of the EVM and a screenshot of the error, which I still get even after copying the .ini file to the EVM installation directory.

    Hi Gabe,

    Thanks for the pictures as they are helpful.  Which operating system version are you using?  At this point I would suggest downloading the latest ADCPro version and the latest ADS1115EVM plugin. 

    One other thing I noticed from the picture is the switch on the MMB3 (red one on the left center of the board) should be in the OUT position.  It appears that the correct firmware is loaded.  If when first applying power to the MMB3 (or pressing RESET) you should see a message that scrolls across the LCD stating which firmware is loaded.  A sanity check would be to make sure it says ADS1115EVM.

    Bob,

    The LCD does say ADS1115EVM V1.00 after reset. I tried downloading the latest software, but the FTP site does not seem to be working. I tried different browsers and they all fail. Regarding the red switch, it is in the OUT position.

    Is there another site for the software download?

    Yes, the FTP site is broken for the moment.  I'll have to let you know when it is back up.  Maybe there is another way, but I won't be able to do anything before tomorrow.

    I am having the exact same problem with the ads1115-evm.

    The EVM is on the MMB3 board from the ADCPro Help settings:
    ACDPro version 2.0.1 build 4
    EVM: ADS1115EVM version 2.0.0.0
    Test: version 0.0.0.0

    When powering on the EVM the LCD reads:
    ADS1115EVM V1.0.4 (c) TI

    The error message is the same as posted by Gabriel
    Jumper settings are as described in above thread.

    After connecting the ADCPro the LCD on the MMB3 changed form displaying "0000 h" to  "PC CONS"

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Brian,

    Did you try to disable the EEPROM verification by copying the attached file found in the first reply? Verify that you copied file into the correct directory with administrator privilege:  Program Files (x86)\ADCPro\plugins\evm\ADS1115

    This should give you a version of the plug-in that doesn't require the EEPROM verification and you should be able to proceed.

    Thanks Joseph, I had tried it with the older version of ADCPro and it did not work but this file in combination with the upgraded ADCPro seems to be working now.
