Hello,

Hello,
I was looking for some solution for high side current measurement (as detailed in this post). The PGA281EVM would perfectly suit me if the gain selection was digitally controllable. I could find the ADS1259EVM-PDK kit that have a PGA280 on board. As could notice the PGA280 is almost identical to PGA281, but with more features (like a mux and fully controllable by SPI). Am i missing something here?
Would i be able to use the ADS1259EVM to measure currents as with the PGA281EVM, or am I missing something here?
Is there any other TI kit that could be used for my purpose of measuring currents from 4uA to 10mA with reasonable relative precision?
Finally is the ADS1259EVM sold separately from the Mother board?
Regards,
Luis

You should receive an email with the source files that you requested via email.
The details of the protocol are not documented since it is really only intended as an evaluation platform and not for end equipment applications. We cannot support modifications to the evaluation software and only provide it for reference.
For reference, the protocol is Styx, which is based on Plan9/Inferno distributed operating system.
Thank you Greg,
Well, in fact I would not need the MMB0, just the EVM, but apparently I cannot buy just the EVM so i would like to make use of the MMB0, or am I wrong? We are going to evaluate the PGA280 as we are going to build our own boards, but will be much faster to test with an EVM.
We do have LabView but we want to make or own software. We just want to implement the same functionality of the ADCPro (nothing more) and automate them. Any help on that? Is the USB driver just compatible with LabView?
Is it possible to make a firmware for the MMB0 DSP? Do i need any external Programmer? Probably any SPI to USB firmware would be sufficient.

Luis
You are correct that the MMB0 is not available separately from the ADS1258EVM.
You should have received an email with the plug-in source (LabView) and firmware (CCS v3.1). This is provided "as-is" so you can use/modify as you need.
The MMB0 can be programmed via USB using the bootstrap loader (this is what we do for the EVM) or you can use the JTAG header (must be populated by you) on the MMB0 to load/debug your program. This would require a JTAG programmer; there are lots of different kinds that you can use/purchase from various sources.
Thank you for your Reply,
I wanted the ADS1258EVM separately from the MMB0 and not the opposite (I am interested on the MMB0). Is there any reason why I cant buy just the EVM? Lets say that I already got a MMB0, would not make sense to buy a new one

Luis

The EVM is sold as part of the -PDK and not separately. For warehouse inventory/stocking purposes, this was how it was decided to do business.
