ADS1298 12 leads ECG question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

Hello,

I have a question regarding the conection and configuration for using the ADS1298 in an 12 lead ECG system.

Acording to what i have understood from  the datasheet:

pin01 (IN8N) - to pin 64 (WCT)
pin02 (IN8P) - V6 (chest lead)

pin03 (IN7N) - to pin 64 (WCT)
pin04 (IN7P) - V5

pin05 (IN6N) - to pin 64 (WCT)
pin06 (IN6P) - V4

pin07 (IN5N) - to pin 64 (WCT)
pin08 (IN5P) - V3

pin09 (IN4N) - to pin 64 (WCT)
pin10 (IN4P) - V2

pin11 (IN3N) - to pin 64 (WCT)
pin12 (IN3P) - V1

pin13 (IN2N) - LA (left arm)
pin14 (IN2P) - LL (left leg)

pin15 (IN1N) - RA (right arm)
pin16 (IN1P) - LA (left arm)

So, I have:

IN1P (LA) - IN1N (RA) = DI (bipolar derivation I)

IN2P (LL) - IN2N (LA) = DII (bipolar derivation II)

Also, my configuration for WCT1 and WCT2 registers is:

WCT1 = 00000001
WCT2 = 00000010

DIII, aVR, aVF, aVL can be calculated.

My question is, are those conections to the pins of the ADS1298 correct for a 12 lead ECG? Do I need con configure something else?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

  • The wilson central terminal es equal to (LA+LL+RA)/3, right? And it is used as a refence for the 6 chest lead, right?

    And what about the right leg? I have implemented the circuit of page 62 of the data sheet with the 1Mohm and 1.5nF and the feedthrough. So, i should connect my right leg circuit to RDLREF, right?

    Thanks in advance!!!!

  • Hello,

    What i do not understand about the RLD in figure 58 on page 62 is that appears that in order to use the RLD I must use one of the input channel (in case of figure 58, that would be channel IN8N) but in the standard 12 lead ECG, I must use all 16 channels to obtain all the derivations as I have shown in my first post. So instead of using one of those MUX1, MUX2,..., MUX8, could be correct if i conect my right leg electrode to the RLDOUT pin?, like this:

    This way i am sensing from every channel and i am driving that sensed and inverted signal to the body using the internal reference. Is that correct?

    Thanks in advance!!!!!

  • Juan,
    Did this ever get resolved?
