ADS7812: basic questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS7812

HI,

I have a piezo accelerometer and I would like to measure it using ADS7812 and Arduino mega board. After reading the datasheet of ADS7812 I have a few questions:

1) I would like to know the max current that can be taken by the analog inputs for +-5V range. I am specifically interested in the analog inputs and not the Vs or supply voltage input. The datasheet says Input impedence of 27kΩ for range of +-5V. does this indicate the maximum current it can withstand.

2) Also, the datasheet mentions about the operational amplifiers for driving the analog inputs. Are these amplifiers necessary? or What is the purpose of these amplifiers?

I am from mechanical engineering background and hence I could not understand these specific details from the datasheet. Can someone please help me?

Here is the link of the datasheet for you refernce. ::   hhttp://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ads7812.pdf
