ADS1278

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1278

I have 2 questions regarding the ADS1278:

1) Is the sampling rate limited to the operating modes 144, 52, and 10 kSPS?

2) The datasheet states that "Fixing one of the inputs to 2.5V permits bipolar operation.." . If AINN is fixed to 2.5 volts can I apply a true bipolar input to AINP?

Thanks for the help.

  • For Delta-Sigma converters, the data rate is based off the master clock.

    Check out Table 3 and Table 6 of the datasheet for divider ratios.

    datarate = fmod/OSR (Table 3)
    fmod = fclk / divider (Table 6)

    As far a bipolar inputs, if you fix AINN at 2.5V, AINP doesn't have to be bipolar to get a negative differential voltage.  Keep in mind the data converter coverts the differential voltage, AINP-AINN.  So if AINP < AINN, then the converted voltage is negative.
