Asynchronous sampling for video decoders

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158

I need to digitise 4 composite video signals and then TDM them for transport. To do this, the 4 digital video streams must be of the same clock domain. But the video from most video decoders is line locked, so I would have to multiplex 4 streams, each of a different clock domain and all asynchronous to each other. I do not want to implement a frame  sync for each of these videos to get them all in the same clock domain. Is it possible to operate each video decoder asynchronously from one system clock, that would not be line locked to any of the videos, and obtain acceptable decoding results? I know Maxim had such a decoder, but they discontinued it.
