ADS1118EVM high temp curve issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1118EVM

Hi,sir:

There is an issue with ADS1118EVM,detail issue description as below.

When ADS1118EVM softwave is running,It creat a curve about 26℃,7uV~24uV at normal.

But it create a high temp curve (about 650℃,26mV) when drag the running ADS1118EVM window.

We discovery the high temp curve can be show when dragging the softwave window.

We have some experiment with 8SPS、16SPS、32SPS、64SPS、128SPS、250SPS、475SPS、860SPS .The high temp curve is alway show with 8SPS . The high temp curve is show sometimes with 16SPS、32SPS. The high temp curve is never show more than 64SPS.I consider maybe the issue source from the ADS1118EVM softwave, but I can’t sure it.

Any suggestions for how to solve the issue  on this ADS1118EVM would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hi Sora,

I will have to see if I can duplicate the issue you are seeing.  Most likely it is a software issue.  If it is a software issue, there is probably not much we can do to fix it at this time due to limited resources available.

  • Hi Sora,

I have been able to duplicate the issue you were seeing when dragging the ADS1118EVM software window.  There appears to be a timing issue relative to the slower data rates.  The software takes a TC reading, and then a cold junction reading which requires a change to the configuration register between readings.

Moving the software window on the screen requires a pause in the operation of the state machine and a refresh of the window.  As communication to the ADS1118EVM is also taking place during this period it is possible that communication is disrupted and the data corrupted in the transfer.  This can happen at the USB block level or can happen within the software itself.

I would suggest that you either not move the software window or if you must then temporarily pause the collection, move the window, and then restart the collection.

    Best regards,

    Bob B
