I'm currently working on motion cancellation in heart rate using AFE4400 EVM Module.

I found a post on this forum that you can code the MSP430F5529 of the EVM in CCS using tag connect cable.

Can anyone tell me where and how I should connect this tag cable.

Which are the tag pins in this picture?

Also is this same as JTAG and will CCS recognize MSP430 using tag. I think MSP430F5529 used in the EVM module is not supported by CCS.

Hi,

Referring to the EVM User's Guide - http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau480c/slau480c.pdf, the board schematic is found at "Figure 70. AFE44x0SPO2EVM: MSP430 (2 of 4)", and the JTAG lines are connected to J3, so it is basically the 10 pins connector on the right side of the image above.

However I can see that it doesn't comply the 14 pins - MSP430 JTAG pinout standard - http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/JTAG_(MSP430) - which is the standard used by our debugger hardware MSP-FET430UIF and MSP-FET.

Therefore I think you need to make a small adapter board for translating the 10 pins to the 14 pins connection.

I am moving the thread also to the AFE4400 forum to get in touch with the team which developed the EVM.

I've found this tag cable which connects to the MSP430 Debugger FET.

Yes this will work.

That is the correct part number of the Tag Connect cable.

Hi Praveen,

This cable is currently unavailable in the market. I've been searching for this cable over the internet for a week but to no avail.

So can you plz suggest an alternate way to program the AFE4400 EVM. I will also use the mpu9150 (for motion cancellation) which i've soldered in the EVM.

Hello Ashutosh,

Refer to section 6 of the AFE4400SPO2EVM Users Guide to program the AFE4400EVM with the new firmware through the USB.

Unfortunately you will not be able to debug using this method.

I checked the Tag Connect website to place the order directly from their portal.

I believe you should also be able to do the same.

Thanks Praveen,

I've found the cable but not on the tag connect website as it was taking longer delivery.

Hopefully now I'll be able to program MSP using that.

Also the firmware file is a binary file. So how will I be able to program MSP through that...
