Dear specialist

Our customer is considering to replace from AD5546 to DAC8820.
Although AD5546 can use from 0 to Vref , DAC8820 datasheet doesn't describe as same usecase.

Can DAC8820 use as same output as above ?

    Hi Alpha,

    The DAC8820 as well as the AD5546 have a current output. This current can be converted to voltage using a transimpedance stage as shown in Figure 39 of the DAC8820 datasheet. The transimpedance stage will output 0 to -Vref. You can use an inverting amplifier to generate the 0 to Vref output voltage.

    Short answer: Yes, you use the DAC8820 along with 2 amplifiers to generate a voltage output of 0 to Vref.

    Alpha,

    I would suggest you refer your customer to TIPD137, a design document we created to help guide people on the selection criteria of the amplifier used in the transimpedance stage of a multiplying DAC design.

    A specific recommendation depends on the DC accuracy goals of your customer. Virtually any amplifier can work in this application but their accuracy goals will define the best amplifier for the job.
