ADS8320 Power Down

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8320

I am evaluating the ADS8320 and I have found the device does not go into the Power Down Mode as indicated by the data sheet. This source indicates the ADS8320 should go into power down when the CS/ signal goes high. However, I am measuring the current to the Vcc pin of the device and finding that the current does not drop between conversions but rather remains at the same level as it is during the conversion. Is there something I am missing that I need to do to get the device to power down? Thanks.

  • Hi, David,

I apologize, we don't support the ADS8320 in the Audio Converter e2e, so I am going to move your post to the Precision Converter e2e.

  • Hi David,

    - Could you describe in detail the procedure you are using to measure the supply current especially while the ADC is converting? What instrument are you using? How are you triggering the measurement? What value are you measuring?

    - What SCLK rate are you using? Could you share scope shots showing a typical SPI transaction?

    - Could you also share a schematic of the ADC block showing the power supplies, drive circuits, etc.?

    Thanks,
    Harsha
