ADC128S052 Serial Timing

Hi,

I would like to ask you about a serial timing as below.

I think this timing seems to be strange because "tracking mode" is firstly begining and after that "MUX" address is setting(ADD0-ADD2).

I suppose normally MUX address setting is first and then tracking is done.

I do not understand the reason why.

Could you tell me the mechanism of this timing?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best Regards,

  • Hi Takumi,

The ADD[2:0], sent in the current SPI frame, sets the mux addrsss for the NEXT conversion (next SPI frame).

    Sincerely,

    tom

  • Hi Takumi,

    Just to complete the answer:

Upon power up the device, by default, will convert the voltage at the input IN0. While reading conversion data from DOUT pin, the user inserts ADD[2:0] on the DIN pin to indicate which input to convert next.

    Sincerely,

    tom

  • Hi Tom-san,

Thank you for your reply and explanation.

I understood what you mean but let me ask you again as below.

    Q)

In single ADC mode(Just single ch ADC), if we would like to ADC of other 0 ch, for example 3ch, how should we do?

My understanding is that 1st ADC ch is always "0ch" and after 0ch, register setting channel is converted. (continuous mode)  So in single mode, 0ch is always selected/converted and we cannot select other ch.

    Is this correct?

    Best Regards,
