16-bit DAC >=200MSPS for electron microscope

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC3482

Hi all,

we are trying to replace current 14-bit DAC (LTC1668) with some new 16-bit DAC from TI.

End application: electron microscop

Usage: DAC is used to scatters electron beams in X and Y axis and hence you can scan the surface of the sample.

Parameters of current solution w/ 14-bit DAC LTC1668 that w need to improve:

Monotonicity 14 Bits (need to improve):

INL typ±2 max±8 LSB

DNL typ±1 max±4 LSB (same or better needed - key for us, unfortunately DAC 3482 and DAC 38J82 has a "saw" linearity)

SFDR fCLK = 25Msps, fOUT = 1MHz

Range to Nyquist:

0dB FS Output min78 typ87 dB

–6dB FS Output 87 dB

–12dB FS Output 83 dB

DNL graf of LTC1668:

In comparison: DAC3482 has worse DNL and INL (and datasheet shows just typical values):

Could you pleae advice the chip that has better parameters than LTC1668 and can be used for this application.

Many thanks.

Daniel
