DAC8760 calibration issues

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC8760

Hello, i am trying to use the DAC8760 16-bit DAC, but when calibrating the device via its calibration registers (gain and zero register) i get some mixed results. The unipolar ranges don't result in any problems. But i am not able to calibrate the bipolar ranges properly.

Can someone explain me the different steps i should perform to correctly calibrate the device in each of its ranges?

  • Alexander,

There, of course, are variants of calibration that can be implemented but most typical is to make a two-point measurement across the linear region of the DAC transfer function and then use those two measurements to extract offset and gain error terms. The linear region of the transfer function is usually defined in the datasheet and the bounds by which INL and DNL are characterized, which is a subset of codes to avoid output voltage swing from rail limitations of the output stage. The process should be consistent regardless of which range is being used.
