ADS 5294 GUI and TSW 1250 GUI Test Pattern ( RAMP PATTERN) incorrect

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS5294

Hi All,

I am using the ADS 5294 GUI andTSW1550 GUI. I have setup the connection and follow the instruction in the User’s Guide. I am having problems in chapter 8, section 8.1 Time Domain. When I capture the RAMP PATTERN from the ADS 5294 GUI, I do not get the expected output as shown in figure 9 of the User’s guide. Instead I get some sine wave form with a lot of noise. How can I solve this problem? If needed I can post the picture.

  • Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having problems testing the ADS5294.  Have you confirmed the GUI is actually communicating with the DUT as seems that the device is not getting programmed for a RAMP test pattern.  As explained in section 6 of UG, press the PD button of the GUI and monitor the DC current drawn by the EVM.

Assuming that is not the problem, have you confirmed the input sampling clock to the DUT looks OK?  What is the frequency and amplitude of this signal on your EVM as seen on an oscilloscope?  Are you providing an external clock or using the on-board oscillator?  Please confirm the jumpers are correct for the appropriate setting.

I might have asked you already but do you have a TSW1400 capture card available to use?  This is our more recent card which supports all our devices and will soon be our only supported capture card.

If none of above solves the problem could you please provide screen shots of GUI settings and captures so we can continue try to resolve the issues.

    Regards,

    Christian
