Output signal from DAC3484 not detected on the oscilloscope? Is the DAC board defective??

Hi,

I have purchased a DAC3484EVM plugged into TSW1400EVM in order to generate arbitrary analog pulses the I need for my laser external intensity modulator. I installed all the software including DAC3484x_GUI_v3p8.vi and High Seed Data Converter Pro v3.0

Everythings looks OK my laptop detects the board and after  loading all the green LEDs of FGPGA board lights green with no problem. I also follow the instructions on USER's Guide DAC348xEVM pages 4 through 9 with no problem. Then, as a first test I load of the files in the test folder called "single_tone_complex_32768_250MSP_BW_25.1MHz.csv". I see that the file gets loaded and its fft shown on the screen. However, when I send the file I can not detect the signal on the scope on any of the four channels?? I selected channel #1 initially but I tried all the other channels?

What is wrong with my setup?

I tried different configuration files but none of them worked? I can not see any signal on the scope??

I have connected a 800 MHz clock input of the board??

  • Hi Joseph,
Try to run the DAC3484x_GUI in administrative mode on your PC. We have seen cases where the DAC configuration file is not written to correctly until the GUI is running in admin mode. Also, USER LED4 on the TSW1400EVM should be lit to indicate the FPGA is receiving a clock from the DAC EVM
    Thanks,Eben.
