why is GREEN LED present in AFE4403 EVM?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4403

Hi,

According to the theory of the pulse oxymeter RED and IR led are used to find the oxygen saturation level. But in the AFE4403 EVM kit three led are present RED,IR and GREEN.

Another important thing is in the GUI software of AFE4403 EVM gives an output LED2/LED3.

which is LED1,LED2 and LED3?

What is the significance of LED2/LED3?

Regards,

@sk

  • Hi Anup,

    AFE4403 is the analog front end for heart rate monitors and low cost pulse oximeters. In pulse pulse oximetry applications, typically it needs RED and IR LEDS. In heart rate monitoring application, GREEN LED is commonly used. AFE4403 has flexible LED configuration. Some examples are listed in LED Configurations section at page 41 of AFE4403 datasheet. For easier understand, in AFE4403 datasheet and EVM user guide, it typically refers IR as LED1, RED as LED2, GREEN can be LED3 or others. You may find more information in Third LED Support section at AFE4403 datasheet page 39. Let me know if have any question.

  • Hi thank you Kankan Wang for your reply,
    I dint get the answer for this question
    What is the significance of LED2/LED3 value in the GUI output?
    Can you tell me there is some thing called Enable Calibration in the GUI ADC Capture and Analysis tab
    How dose this work?
