ADS1255/6 ENOB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1256

I have a question about the ENOB calcs on p. 12 of the data sheet.  When I calculate the ENOB using the input refereed noise value and a FSR value of 2*Vref(2.5v)/gain I don't get the same value as table 2 displays. I actually get 1 less bit.  Any help on this would be appreciated as to what the difference is.

BTW, I am referring to data sheet Rev, SBAS288K − JUNE 2003 − REVISED SEPTEMBER 2013

Thank you in Advance

  • Hi Carl,

The ADS1256's full-scale input range is actually 4*Vref/gain. That is what is accounting for the 1 bit difference in your calculation; otherwise, you seem to be doing the calculation correctly.

The input range is larger because the reference is internally scaled by 2x.

    Best Regards,
