AFE4490 TX_CTRL_SUP and LED_DRV_SUP shutdown

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4490

Hi,

I have a custom board with the AFE4490. I am powering the digital and analog sections using 3.3V and the TX_CTRL_SUP and LED_DRV_SUP supplies using a separate 5.0V rail. I would like to switch off the 5.0V regulator suppling the AFE4490 to reduce power consumption during the device's sleep phase. The 3.3V supply will remain on. Will leaving the digital and analog rx supplies connected and the 5.0v supply disconnected result in any problems for the AFE4490? It seems that when I do this, my board's current consumption increases.

Thank you!

  • Hello Ccent,

It is not recommended to shutdown the TX_CTRL_SUP and LED_DRV_SUP while RX_DIG_SUP and RX_ANA_SUP are still connected to the 3.3V supply.

Internal to the device there is a logic hand-off from TX_CTRL_SUP to RX_DIG_SUP and with TX_CTRL_SUP floating, this would cause leakage currents from the Rx supply.
