ADS1299: Using Aluminium electrolytic Capacitors for VCAP1, VCAP3 and VREFP-VREFN

Hello,

I am designing a prototype circuit using the ADS1299 for EEG and I currently cannot obtain 100uF (nor 10uF) SMD tantallum or ceramic capacitors. Would there be any problem in using SMD aluminium electrolytic capacitors as bypass capacitors in VCAP1, in VCAP 3 and between VREFP-VREFN? Has anyone tested this?

Hi Pablo,

I spoke with the designer for this device and he told me that aluminium electrolytic capacitors will work fine as bypass capacitors for those pins as long as the equivalent series resistance of the capacitors are rated at 1 Ohm or less.
