Will ECE mode setting be override by other setting of ADC08D1520 chip?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC08D1520

For ADC08D1520,  FSR could be used to enable an alternative ECE mode.

What will happen if I set ECE=0, but have FSR to enable ECE? What is the most straightforward way to set ECE?

Does that mean as long as we write ADC registers we are already working on ECE mode?

  • Hi Bridget

If pin 41 (/ECE) is connected to GND (0V), then  the chip will be in Extended Control Mode. This will over-ride any effect of the setting of pin 14 (FSR / ALT_ECE / DCLK_RST-). When ECE is enabled, the Full Scale Range setting is always controlled by the setting in Registers 0x3h and 0xBh. Pin 14 can then be used as the DCLK_RST- input if the DCLK Reset feature needs to be utilized.

Writing to the registers only has an effect when ECE mode is enabled. One quick way to confirm proper Extended Control Mode (register based control) is to set and clear the TPO bit and observe that the ADC output data transitions between normal mode data and test pattern data. If that is working it confirms that the device is in ECE mode and that the register writes are working correclty.

    Best regards,
